Nathaniel Dicks joins DOT South Africa as a UI designer working on Innojo, where he utilises his skills in front-end development, graphic design, and UI design. He brings with him a wealth of experience in social entrepreneurship and ICT.
Nathaniel is co-founder of both TalentSpark.me, a platform with a reach of over 15000 users, and Design Lunatics - a graphic design company which aims to offer opportunities to inexperienced youth to gain experience while working with real clients.
Passionate about social impact, Nathanial has gained international recognition for his work. In his previous position at RLabs, he won Top Achiever in a BBC hackathon focused on how to make news more accessible to youth in Africa. His team’s idea was implemented as Catchup (BBC Minute). Nathaniel has completed a range of courses in the field of social media and a course in graphic design from UCT.
Yandiswa has joined DOT South Africa team as a software development advisor. Focussing specifically on the development of Innojo, Yandiswa works to guide technology choices, assembly and development of the platform.
She is passionate both about coding and youth development and brings with her five years of work experience in software development and the social entrepreneurial sectors. Yandiswa previously worked as a senior software developer with RLabs, and holds a diploma in Software Development from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
Shannon matriculated in 2015 and found her passion for coding soon after. She joins DOT South Africa as a Junior Web Developer. Shannon has a passion for both education and working with youth, having previously provided basic literacy and mathematics support as a volunteer at a disadvantaged school.
Shannon is a young leader with a demonstrated aptitude for leadership and has completed several courses in personal development, including during her time as a volunteer at the Frederik Van Zyl Slabbert Institute in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
In 2017, Shannon was selected to study web development at Project CodeX and after completing her training here, went on to intern at IO Digital, a leading software development and UX firm in South Africa. She is also a current holder of a Google scholarship in the field of Android development.
Tony brings extensive professional operations and project management experience and a commitment to innovation within DOT's vision. Prior to joining DOT, Tony was a project manager with the Global Connectivity program at the International Institute for Sustainable Development. In 2007, Tony completed a master's degree in international development at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (Ottawa, Canada). Tony has also enjoyed over 10 years in the telecommunications sector, having worked in senior product management, technical marketing, and executive advisory roles.
